James Busby
September 4 - October 4, 2025

Kravets Wehby Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of new works by James Busby, opening on Thursday, September 4th and on view through October 4, 2025.
James Busby, known for his meticulous surfaces and refined approach to abstraction, presents a new body of paintings that expand on his signature language of precision, subtlety, and material intensity. Each work is built through an exacting process of layering and sanding, creating luminous, sculptural surfaces that appear to hover between painting and object.
Busby’s practice engages both the history of Minimalism and the tactile, hand-driven tradition of painting. His works often read as meditations on light, space, and duration, rewarding sustained viewing with unexpected depth and resonance. This exhibition highlights Busby’s continued exploration of the tension between restraint and intensity, presence and impermanence.
Busby’s paintings are at once rigorous and poetic, they invite viewers into a space where time slows down and the subtleties of surface, reflection, and light unfold in profound ways. James Busby lives and works in Chapin, SC.
