Thresholds

Drea Cofield

March 26 - May 2, 2026

The Kravets Wehby Gallery is pleased to present Thresholds, a new exhibition of paintings by Drea Cofield, marking a significant evolution in the artist’s practice. Departing from her widely recognized nude selfie project, Cofield’s latest body of work embraces her affinity for plein air painting, shifting her focus outward into lived environments. These new paintings remain deeply rooted in figuration but expand to include the interplay between the human form and its surrounding architecture and landscape.

Rendered in oil, the works explore moments of reflection—both literal and psychological—through surfaces such as doors, windows, and mirrored planes. Cofield constructs layered compositions where interior and exterior spaces collapse into one another, creating a quiet tension between observation and presence. This exhibition highlights a more contemplative and spatially complex direction in her work, underscoring her continued investigation into perception, identity, and the act of observation.

Drea Cofield (b. 1986, Brownsburg, IN) currently lives and works in New York City. She received an MFA from Yale University School of Art in 2013. She recently has had solo exhibitions at Galleri Urbane, Dallas, TX; Soho Revue, London, UK; and her debut show at Kravets Wehby Gallery, Infinite Nude, in New York. Her work has been featured in Office Magazine, Cultured Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Dazed, and Whitehot Magazine. She is a recipient of an Elizabeth Greenshields Grant and was just awarded a Lab of Experimental Art Residency Prize at Contemporary Art Now, Madrid. Last year, she was selected for the La Napoule Art Foundation Residency in France.
