Jamea Richmond-Edwards’ solo exhibtion, Prom Night, opens at Kravets Wehby Gallery October 17, 2019. The exhibition will explore the question: Why is prom such a significant rite-of-passage for Black America? Richmond-Edwards approaches this coming-of-act ritual as a timeless marker of Blackness in the 21stcentury. Her use of cut-paper collage, fabric, rhinestones, glitter, ink and paint portrary her years in Detroit. Recent exhibitions: Solo exhibition opening at the Rowan Museum on November 7th, Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, California African American Museum, the Katzen Museum, The David C. Driskell Center, and the Rubell Family Collection.
